Six Classes, Twenty-Eight Questions
The present simple in all its forms, the frequency words and where they sit, questions with do and with be, instructions, and the pronouns that come after the verb. Everything from Class 14 to Class 19.

Six classes in one person

This is Paulo. He is thirty-four and he is an engineer. He works in an office in Curitiba and he always starts at half past eight.
He usually has lunch at work, but on Fridays he goes out. He never works on the weekend. His sister is a nurse, and she does work on weekends.
Paulo is always on his phone. He checks it about eighty times a day, and he sometimes takes it to bed. He doesn't like that, but he does it anyway.
In his free time he has two hobbies. He does a course online — hand lettering — and he makes videos about it. He thinks lettering is relaxing.
He also cooks. His favorite recipe has six steps: cook the sausages, add the tomatoes, put the pan in the oven, cook the eggs, prepare the bread, make the sandwich.
He likes dramas and animations. He doesn't like horror movies at all — he never watches them. His favorite actress is Naomi Watts. He thinks she is wonderful.
Once a month he goes to a restaurant with his sister. He always says the same thing: "I'll start with the soup and then I'll have the fish with a side of rice."

Questions 1 to 14
This half is the present simple and the frequency words. Do not look anything up. A wrong answer here is worth more than a right one, because it tells us where to go next.

She, and the verb ends in o, so it takes es.

Plural, and the sentence is positive.

Consonant + y, so the y becomes ies.

Meals go with have, and we keeps the plain form.

One person, and this verb is irregular.

Work is not be, so the negative needs doesn't.

Plural, so don't.

The second sentence tells you it is a negative.

Plural and negative, with a verb that is not be.

The frequency word goes before the verb, and she still needs the -es.

With the verb be, the frequency word goes after it.

Not every day, but most days. Friday is the exception, so it cannot be always.

Once or twice a month is not often, and it is definitely not never.

Never is already negative, and it goes before the verb.

There is another verb, live, so the question needs does.

No other verb, so be does the whole job. In Portuguese you have years; in English you are them.

One person, and the verb is speak.

The question word comes first, then does, then the plain verb.

A negative instruction always starts with don't.

Two words you will use every week.

An instruction has no subject, and here the advice is positive.

Making or doing?
Write one word before each hobby. If something new appears at the end, you are making it. If it is an activity, you are doing it.
One quick test. Can you hold the result in your hand at the end? Then it is making. If there is no object, only the activity, it is doing.

80–120 words. Write about yourself the way the reading describes Paulo: your job and hours, your phone, your hobbies, a recipe you know, the movies you like and do not like, and what you order in a restaurant. Use three frequency words, one negative with doesn't or don't, and one object pronoun.
